Our Why

On August 4, 2017 we arrived at a family members house in Florida and hours later Zane drowned in their pool. My husband and I were unpacking our truck and getting beds ready for our boys, Zane was out front riding bike with his older brother and cousins (with adult supervision). We noticed that they had migrated out back and I told my husband I needed to go check on Zane. My husband went out back, I went out front and noticed the garage was closed and his bike was put away, we met again in the dining room area. Something then told my husband to check the pool, he screamed “Oh my God, he’s in the pool” as he went in to get him. He immediately handed him to me and I started CPR as someone else called 911. Help finally arrived, in those moments minutes felt like days. Zane was transported to a local hospital and after he was ‘stabilized’, he was transported to Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida.

On August 7, 2017 Zane passed away. Our world crashed around us as we had to say our hardest goodbye to our sweet little boy, our hearts forever broken.

One of the hardest things that has ever been required of me was the day i had to let go as the angels carried you up to heaven
